Adaptive Power Control Technology
An industry first, Motorola's Adaptive Power Control
technology permits high power operation (up to 5-Watt)
with alkaline batteries. APC allows the radio to operate
up to 16 hours in the high power mode. This is
accomplished by automatically reducing the output power,
as the batteries are discharged, to maintain normal radio
operation.
Wide Frequency Bands
The GP68 portable radio is available in VHF (136-174 MHz)
and UHF (430-470 MHz) frequency bands. The wide frequency
band gives users the flexibility to select the frequency
for use in their respective work environment.
Keypad and Non-Keypad Models
The GP68 portable radio comes in keypad and non-keypad
models. The keypad model allows access to a land-line
telephone interconnect (See DTMF Encoding).
Flexible Power Source
Both models can operate using either rechargeable
Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) battery pack with low and high
capacity or six standard AA alkaline batteries with
variable power output. An optional rechargeable (NiCd)
battery pack is also available as optional accessories
for use with the GP68 portable radio.
Flexible Dealer Programming
The GP68 portable radio enables your dealer to configure
it to suit your communications needs. The flexible
programmed parameters include: frequencies in increments
of 5,10,12.5,15,20 or 25 kHz, transmit-to-receive
repeater offsets, up to 20 memory channels, PL and DPL
codes by channel, DTMF PTT-ID code, individual, group and
all-call DTMF ID codes (DTMF decoder option required).
Cloning Operation
The GP68 portable radio features radio-to-radio cloning.
This allows the user to transfer the essential operating
parameters from one radio to another in just a few easy
steps using a cable with standard audio plugs.
Channel Scan With Nuisance
Channel Delete
When the radio is programmed for channel scan, it rapidly
scans through all the memory channels seeking one with
activity. To remove the very active channel, simply press
the scanning button.
DTMF Encoding Keypad (Keypad
Model)
The latest GP68 keypad model comes equipped with the Dual
Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF) tones that are encoded
using the 4 x 3 keypad on the radio to access a Iand-line
telephone network. The keypad provides support for DTMF
digits O to 9, and the characters A, B, C, D, * and #.
Additional DTMF telephone interconnect features include
last number radial and memory storage up to 9,12-digit
telephone numbers.
Side Monitor Buttons
The GP68 portable radio comes with a Side Monitor Button
to easily monitor channel activity.
RadiusPort Expansion Capability
The GP68 portable radio has the capability to interface
with a family of option boards that are easily installed
into the RadiusPort to expand the radio's capabilities as
business needs grow.Other Features

Manufactured With Motorola
Backed Proven Quality
Quality and reliability are trademarks of all Motorola
2-way radios. The GP68 portable radio is no exception.
Each model must pass Motorola's Accelerated Life Testing
simulating 5 years of hard use in real life and meets the
MIL-STD 810 standards and also meets EIA RS-316B in
Shock, Vibration, Dust, Humidity and IP54 for Sealing.
Optional
SmarTrunk II® Capability
An additional capability of the GP68 portable radio is
its compatibility with Selectone's SmarTrunk II®
trunking system when it is equipped with an optional
logic board. This cost effective trunking system provides
telephone interconnect, unit-to-unit calling and several
levels of priority.
Voice Selective Call
You can increase your radio's capability if it is
equipped with an optional DTMF Decode board that supports
Voice Selective Call. With the DTMF Decode board, your
radio can be called individually by another user or as
part of a small group.
Two-Year Warranty
As a firm believer of six-sigma quality, Motorola extends
this philosophy of excellence to its warranty program. It
is the only manufacturer in Asia that offers a two-year
warranty for all its two-way radios for protection
against defects in material and workmanship under normal
use and service.
ISO 9001 Standard
All Motorola GP68 portable radios are manufactured under
the ISO 9001 Standard - an international quality system
that demonstrates quality assurance in design,
development, production, installation and servicing of a
product.
ISO 9001 is a distinct level that
encompasses and exceeds those of the ISO 9002
(production, installation and servicing) and ISO 9003
(final inspection and test). Motorola's product
excellence has led to its achievement of the ISO 9001
Standard by the manufacturing facility in Penang,
Malaysia.
